Doing the washing-up

I find that when I do the washing up it gives me time to be reflective, and provides a meditative state. I often find myself using it as a form of escapism, and so find it enjoyable.

For the duration of the task I’m free from distraction.

It’s repetitive.

Take a dirty item from the sideboard. Soak it in the warm soapy water. Scrub the item until it’s clean. Place it (often precariously) onto the draining board.

The task is complete once the draining board is full, or the dishes are all clean.

I return later to put the items away, and the cycle continues.
